During the night of 27 December 2018, strengthened by the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, Abbot Emeritus Dom Michel Pascal OSB fell asleep in the Lord. He was 77 years old.
Dom Michel was born on 4 April 1941 and made his monastic profession at Abbaye Saint-Marie Madeleine de Marseille on 9 July 1962, living 56 years of monastic profession. He was ordained a priest on 21 September 1970 and served as a priest for over 48 years. During his reign as abbot from 1978-1997, he organized the move of the monastic community from Hautecombe to Ganagobie in 1992. He was always very active and cordial to others, while also being one equally to seek out prayer in solitude and silence.
His funeral was celebrated on Monday, 31 December 2018 at 10.00 a.m., at Abbaye de Notre-Dame de Ganagobie.
