During the afternoon of Ash Wednesday, 6 March 2019, Pope Francis was received warmly by Abbot Primate Gregory Polan OSB and the Prior of Sant’Anselmo, Father Mauritius Wilde OSB, as the Holy Father arrived at the Primatial Abbey of Sant’Anselmo on the Aventine hill in Rome.  At 4:30 p.m., the pope began the Statio prayers with the Benedictine and Dominican communities residential in Rome, accompanied by the schola cantorum of Sant’Anselmo in penitential procession to the Basilica of Santa Sabina, for celebration of the Holy Mass with Imposition of Ashes among the Christian Faithful gathered there.  Video coverage, papal homily, and Vatican news articles have been collected here, along with additional Lenten resources, for your prayerful reflection and consolidated reference.
