Brother Franz-Xaver Wangler, O.S.B.
from Steinbach (D)
was called home to his Creator in the evening of 29 November 2020.

Br. Franz-Xaver was born on 3 May 1948 in Steinach (D). After elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as electrician, which he crowned with the master craftsman’s certificate in 1976. In 1995 he entered the monastery of Einsiedeln, where he made his temporary profession in 1996 and his perpetual profession three years later on the feast of our father Benedict.

Br. Franz-Xaver could contribute his expertise as an electrician to the monastery. From 2002 onwards, he also administered the income generated by the offerings and candles.

Over the years, his strength decreased, and Br. Franz-Xaver became more and more dependent on nursing support. He was infected with the Corona virus a few weeks ago, and at first there was reason to hope that he would survive. But then his condition deteriorated until he was finally called home by our Lord and Creator.

Br. Franz-Xaver was a silent and faithful believer, who visited many places of pilgrimage during his life. We believe that we have not lost him, but that he belongs to the community even more now, since he can pray for us from where he is now.

Br. Franz-Xaver died in the 73rd year of his life and the 25th year of his monastic profession.
